As you can probably tell from the name, Invisalign is a virtually invisible way to align teeth. Invisalign is the solution for patients who do not want brackets with wires affixed to their teeth. Instead, Invisalign trays are made of transparent, medical-quality plastic, and it’s hard for others to tell when they’re being worn.
Another advantage of Invisalign over traditional braces is that you can take out the trays to eat, floss, and brush, which makes it easier to keep up with dental hygiene during treatment.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign treatment begins with an examination that includes X-rays, photos, and impressions of your mouth. These images are uploaded into a computer program which generates a 3D-digital model of your bite and renders how your teeth should move into their desired positions.
Gessel Orthodontics then orders a series of trays made to each patient’s specific bite. The aligner trays fit directly over your teeth. All of them are a little different and are meant to be worn for two weeks in a certain order. As your treatment progresses, each new aligner will bring your teeth closer and closer to their ideal placement. When treatment is over, you will have a beautiful smile. Invisalign is just as an effective treatment as traditional braces are.
Invisalign treatment tends to be a little more expensive than traditional braces. As with other orthodontic treatments, actual costs can vary from patient to patient. Come in for a complimentary consultation, and after an examination, we will be able to tell you about specific costs for your situation. Payment plans are available, and if your insurance has orthodontic coverage, insurance providers typically treat Invisalign as equivalent to other orthodontic treatments.
Who It’s For
Invisalign is a versatile orthodontic treatment for adolescents and adults, but it doesn’t work for 100% of orthodontic issues. Beyond clinical considerations, patients must be willing and conscientious enough to wear the trays at least 22 hours a day. Otherwise, treatment will not progress according to plan.
